Carl and Ellie's House

Up is one of my favourite films. It's sweet and sad and funny. Sometimes all at the same time.

I've been trying to create some art pieces lately, and earlier this month I had the most amazing brain wave!

What if I re-created the house from Up, but the balloons are made from buttons? I'd seen this Up House on Pinterest, where fingerprints make up the balloons. It's so cute, and perfect for a child's bedroom, or a nursery.

I've been collecting buttons for years, but I haven't really known what to use them for. I used them for sewing onto mug warmers, but I'm pretty sure that's the only craft where I've ever used them. Until now of course.
For Carl and Ellie's House, you can find all sorts of templates online, suitable for tracing, colouring in, or just cutting out and sticking on paper.
And for the button balloons, I used my good friend Mod Podge to stick them in place. I based the shape of the balloons on a hot air balloon to ensure I kept the buttons in a realistic shape. Imagine the buttons all as individual balloons. So colourful!
It's quite a simple craft, and only took me an hour one Saturday morning. For the finishing touch I framed the piece. I was so happy with it that only a frame would do it justice! And now even my Dad is insisting I take the buttons off all of his old shirts for future use.

Let me know what you all think!

Adventure is out there.
